New for 2025 an ‘Alternative Oxford Tour’.
This 180/200*minute tour from a Witney postcode will include an alternative tour of the City and surrounding ‘different’ suburbs.
The areas covered in this tour will show parts of the architecturally beautiful City buildings (‘the High’, parts of Magdalen College & Christ Church to name drop a couple) and include areas such as North Oxford (Summertown & Park Town), Jericho, Headington including the Headington Shark, Cowley Road, Cowley, a drive past the iconic BMW Mini factory, and a quick peep at the 3 sided Kassam football stadium in Blackbird Leys.
Included, with weather and parking permitting a stop for up to 10/15 mins for a quick photo shoot opportunity from Oxford’s South Park that overlooks the stunning Oxford skyline (pictures below).
Continuing, and on past the other big city university institution ‘Oxford Brookes’ we then head up the architecturally iconic High Street in the city centre which is still today preferably named as ‘the High’ to the many academia minded folk living in this diverse and culturally special city.
Heading past the Oxford castle and on to another city ‘village’ called Wolvercote we will with time permitting (and weather) get to drive (stop if possible for 10 minutes) past the famous ‘Inspector Morse’ pub the ‘Trout Inn’ at Wolvercote, plus a very sneaky peep at the haunting Godstow Abbey ruins – a benedictine nunnery that goes back a few months circa 1133.
From Godstow we head through the delightful village of Wytham before heading out onto the thoroughly modern (millie) A34.
Our tour then heads towards Bladon (Winston Churchill’s burial place at St Martin’s) and then home to Witney.
The tour cost is just £200.
For comfort and window space the suggested passenger numbers to suit this tour would be 1 or 2. However, the taxi can seat 4 passengers.
